to be honest lead with being honest because when you're not you have to keep trying to figure out what it was that you said initially so you always want to be honest I was wondering be truthful with view the eclipse we all were safe with our glasses the opportunity of you what an amazing experience also this weekend we had some of our students to go and compete in Gardena at the chess club tournament we have 23 students to compete us give all of our participants a big round of applause and in first grade we had a third-place winner Diego override Alvarez Alvarez I'm sorry second grade we had Danielle first place we had Armando wait a second grade first place was Danielle second place with our mind and third place was Devin and our third grade we had Simona Alvarez or first place and Matthew Pettis won third place so congratulations to all of our winners for is any amestoy well at the chess club congratulations again and again we still have a few wonderful events out of our cultural or passport program we still have Aladdin which will take place on May 11th if you have not done so please turn in your trip slips to room seven and also on a Saturday the Opera for the are you ready to get your Eagle passport stamped at this Saturday there was a parent Workshop and it was entitled we're different yet we're the same and we're all wonderfully made so hear of our parents with the activities that they did along with our students Sebastian a lot of our parents weren't here this week because a lot of them were at the time chess club chess tournament so thank you for the parents who did attend and remember we're different yet we're the same and we're all wonderfully made just a few dates to remember on the 18th we have our coffee with the principal beats up Community night Saturday you still have opportunity parents to come the topic is reading is fundamental you'll come up back with a lot of ideas on how to support your child at home and we still have one more after the 20th on the 27th when I Saturday school in re like meeting is on the 23rd 8:30 you have various ways to attend you can do it hybrid or in-person the zoom link is here and I'm sure you received it the same with School site Council on the 23rd then were off on the 24th for our holiday Armenian Genocide day there's no school the 25th is 150 day of school and Miss Gonzalez was going to tell you more about that a perfect attendance cell Grayson will be on the 26th and on May 1st May 2nd the fifth grade will be doing their cast science Testing on May 2nd we're going to have our s back pep rally the third is a student of the month perfect attend and then the 6th through the 17th we're having our esper testing for grades three through five take a look at our calendar this is our April calendar and I've covered everything on here and you can take glimpse into our May calendar and see all the things that are to come May is full with testing and boys and girls we're going to students are a master eagles to eat a healthy breakfast especially now that we're approaching our testing month of May we really encourage all of our families to provide a healthy breakfast breakfast for the children in the morning if that's not possible because of time or whatever the reason is make sure that you bring your children from 7:30 to 8 chance that they can enjoy a healthy breakfast in Tacoma an amazing Mayo get some extra time I said I don't know 60 Minutes is the palace still open in Camaro that morning I was three eagles happy Monday a new week again just to remind you all that it's so important that y'all come to every single day we are approaching the 150 a day of school which is next week so that means again students to have anywhere between 0 to 6 absences are on the human body if you have anywhere between 7 well you're on the basic and if you've been more than 13 times absent you are on the chronic so please boys and girls come to school every single day and it's really important we only have about 40 days left of to the end of the spear so I just want to encourage you all to please come to school it's so very important and is for those students if you finish off the year and you were seven or less absences you will end the year with being so please come to school it's really really important stay home if you're sick but if you're not sick please come to school thank you and like I mentioned as of today we have 40 days of school left so that's amazing that's about I think eight seven or eight weeks so like I said we do have the sports events coming up that is next Friday I'm real excited for that we're going to have different stations for the students to participate and we had about three hundred 316 students that were eligible for that so congratulations to all of all of those students the majority of let's see 67 of those students were fifth grade and the second fourth grade have the second amount of students that were eligible for the sports events so if you were not eligible for this attendance even hoping for the text once you'll be able to purchase a bit but again in order for you to participate you have to come to school everyday okay and then please okay so like I mentioned the 150 the school is next Thursday so come to school wearing your favorite tie-dye sugar this is your opportunity to get creative if you don't have one you can make one shirt but whatever it is that you want to do this is your chance to creative and and I'm just cool and show your spirit all right so we are still doing our classroom attendance challenges so again teachers if classroom has already completed those 15 points let us know so that we can get your class a shout out but I want to encourage you all to still continue doing the classroom attendance challenges all right though do so miss Gonzalez plus kindergarten had 98% of students present last week and I gave her Superstar because she also had it with some other students for the previous week lease claspers great 98% Miss duenas class 2nd grade make it per cent growth or great 86% miss. Work great 93 and Miss coach has 97% so congratulations to all those classrooms all right so I don't think we have any rate is coming up anytime soon we did this weekend but in case rainy days are Hill school days my friends do if if there's the upcoming rainy day please just make sure that you do come to school prepared that you were a warm jacket extra layers of clothing if you are walk to school from from your home just make sure you leave on time with your parents give her slipper brings you to school but again it's still of Steel with school day rainy days are still school days and on rainy days we will be Raffles so please come to school all right boys and girls which university will you act and I get whenever she Dollar City. simple as part of thinking ahead and planning ahead intensive decided what university you're thinking about attending is to also think about community service know what that means few of you okay good okay boys and girls community service is an opportunity for you to give back to the community and can look in different ways you can help out by heal the bay they have a day were people go to the beach and pick up trash there so still support at the library you can go ahead and breed the group of students working in hospitals and working in if schools also so as you get older I want you to start thinking about ways that you can give back to your community because this is something that where you're applying for College college admissions officers are looking very closely at how and what you have done it in your time in so your record of civic participation since offers a glimpse into your character your motivation and your potential for success but these are the few things that they look at how many hours of service entrance of community service you've done it is between 50 to 200 hours that they look at favorably academic achievement to so that means your braids so they have to be really high boys and girls A's and B's and test course that's why it's so important so you to focus and do well on tests days because those test scores really do matter also recommendations when you ask teachers for recommendations there right about how well you're performing how will of a purse and you are how many how punctual you are how many that means how many days you come to school that you're often in school that there's no days that you come tardy or absent and also did you get to ride an essay letting University know why they should sell like you to be part of their University so these are things to consider boys and girls and today we are going to be looking at La Harbor College and it is not in Idaho 186 undergraduate students and the cost per year is $25,087 1949 it's a public Community College as I said before in Wilmington California it's a public two-year college boys and girls it offers programs for students to transfer to a 4-year University so it's up to you typically universities for years but if you do 2 years out of Community College that mean it's going to cost you last that way you can try 2 USD to Dominguez Hills to La Jolla to several other amazing colleges and universities it has about twenty-five to one student to teacher ratio minority student enrollment about 89% of the student body is that means a lot of are that's he knows a lot of our Hispanic Chicano African American students attend this Community College the most pop associate's degree in Liberal Arts biology and physical science right no cell phone use on campus boys and girls we remind you every single week There's a code Amazon telephone while on campus cell phones must be put away in backpacks until school is over in the event of an emergency we have all student contact information and we will contact parents for us to make sure that we have a safe and clean restroom everyone deserves a place for them use the restroom because that's just natural for us to use the restroom so please follow these rules floor hold on the flusher you wash your hands and you exit the boys and girls just as a reminder please in and out of the restroom want to make sure that you're safe there if there's any concerns or anything that he needs to be brought to our attention remember boys and girls we have a dog out in the yard right outside the restaurants while to help support you now it's time for our drawing for being safe being responsible and being respectful before I do that there is an additional raffle I took place for the students or the class that had the most parents are turning their proof of the school experience survey so the top class was Miss Sosa class at turn dance the number of students parents who completed their School experience survey and that class will have ice cream party and the parent will receive a t-shirt you will be notified to see what size you would like your shirt in you receive t-shirt for yourself and for your child so now for those students who are safe responsible and respectful and you earned our Blue Eagle slips when your name is called please come to the office doing your recess time to pick up your fries so congratulations to Hunter room 6 Scarlet room 39
