good morning amestoy Eagles and Welcome to our Monday morning assembly happy New Year's to everyone and we're so excited to have you back on this very cool Day January 8th 2024 so welcome back as usual we're going to get ready for a good morning song Miss Korea I'm not able to hear it no okay let me see if we audio now it's time for happy New Year short song January 1st starts a brand new let's start fresh with a Happy New Year to you happy New Year happy New Year happy New Year forget about the past you and let's sing some Happy New Year the brand new year Spanish with a happy New Year gif happy New Year happy New Year Happy New Year happy New Year everyone January now we're going to do our New Year's free these dads are you ready to get moving I know you are missed all of this while we were off for those three years but I'm sure you did a lot of movement so here we go it would you rather pick your favorite the two choices then do the dance that pops up on that side would you rather freeze confettis for have party streamers for hair would you rather be a hero for a year or be a villain for a year would you rather celebrate New Years on a mountain or celebrate New Year jungle would you rather learn a new instrument this year or learning 450 year would you rather renew books here or try new food Bell 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 would you rather celebrate New Years in the ocean or celebrate New Years in space 754 oh wow that was lots of fun we had lots of choices today for New Year's celebrations your Monday morning motivator five steps to achieving your goal this is a guy for you boys and girls and for some of us adults as well hatred are you ready to learn how to spot and achievement seriously awesome goals race because today we're going to be talking about how to turn your a reality and we're going to have a little bit of fun along the way first things first what is a goal a goal is like a treasure that you want to find it can be big or small and it can be about anything you're interested in maybe you want some how to do a flip on the trampoline or maybe want to learn how to play a new instrument whatever it is it's something that you're excited to work for it so how do we go about setting and achieving our goals there are a few easy steps to follow steps figure out what you really want take some time to think about what it is that you want to achieve make sure it's something that you're really excited about and motivated to work for it and don't worry it doesn't have to be something super serious it could be something silly able to burp the alphabet just make sure to ask an adult before you start practicing step to make a plan once you know what your goal is it's time to start figuring out how you're going to achieve it this might involve some smaller goals to help you get there we're breaking your goal down smaller more manageable tasks the key is to have a clear roadmap to follow so you know exactly what you need to do to get closer to your goal and don't forget to have a little bit of fun along the way step 3 take action this is where the real fun to go it's time to start putting your plan into action and making progress towards your goal this might involve practicing a new skill taking out resources or support or simply getting started and taking that first step and don't be afraid to ask for help or support along the way check for stay focused and motivated achieving a goal takes time and effort and it's easy to get sidetracked or lose motivation along the way that's why it's important to stay focused and remind yourself while your goal is important to surround yourself with supportive people who will help you on track and don't be afraid to celebrate your progress as you go maybe you can even give yourself little rewards along the way like an extra dessert or an extra half-hour of Springtime step 5 keep going until you reach your goal this is the most important step of all achieving a goal takes dedication and determination and it won't always be easy but if you stay focused and keep putting in the effort you'll eventually get there and when you do take a moment to celebrate your hard work and all that you've accomplished maybe you can even throw a little or have a special celebration with your friends and family so there you have it five easy steps to help you set and achieve your goals remember anything is possible if you put your mind to it and are willing to put in the work and don't forget to have a little bit of fun along thanks for watching always keep reaching for the Stars so I encourage each of you to reach for your goals remember you have to pick a goal so everyone's going to sit at least 12 to go can this year make a plan take action stay focused and keep going I am going to ask you what your goals are at least by Wednesday so I'll be thinking about the goes where there's you want to improve in math maybe you want to learn how to play an instrument or maybe you want to lose weight like me so there are many goes out there that you can set and remember if you can dream it you can do it hey kids okay so our daily self-affirmation I work this week is grit every once a grit Ritz now we've learned a lot of words because it's the new year we're going to go through these words really quickly You Can Be A Champion you have potential Vision compassionate optimistic ambitious you can be a changemaker Innovative mindful reliable can have potential you can be committed you could be generous or you can have gratitude there are so many words that you can use for your daily affirmation this is just a few so I want you to take a few seconds and think about the word that you want for this week and hold up your magic mirror and now that you have your magic mirror up say I am and you are just that remember I work for this week though if grit so I have Grinch and grit is to have courage and resolve strength and character the soldiers displayed True Grit as a Navy pilot and grip is G is Give It All give it your all our is redo if necessary I is ignored giving up you can't give up and tea is take time to do it right so let's work on having grit this week we're not going to give up we're going to give it our all let's learn a little more about Grit perseverance tenacity the heart thing it's also called grit have a nice ring to it huh kind of brings up visions of John Wayne after A Hard Day's Work simply put grit is about persevering being tenacious never giving up you for the same when the going gets tough the tough get going but that's not the whole picture you see being tougher only gets you so far there's a difference between walking through the mud with your head hung low and really persevering different is your purpose your wife and you're done something really really hard what kept you going what kept you from quitting I'm guessing it wasn't because I didn't love the pain of the harder Road you had grit because you had your eye on the prize a worthwhile reason to keep persevering mountain climber they don't climb the mountain because they love the severe cold and the aching legs know they do it for the end result the view the conquest sense of accomplishment the knowledge that they did what few others have ever done and do they get tired want to give up sometimes even fail you bet but their purpose the same producers you can even say inspires there they know that failure is not a permanent condition the brain grows doing challenges drink is perseveres who next I'm too tired feeling worn out ready to throw in the towel and ask yourself the why the purpose the passion the reason for your grid and then get back up look at the product and ask yourself is this worth my sweat and if it is and go after it with that grit field stride knowing that this truly is an essential right boys and girls so we want you to have grit this week I know you been off for 3 weeks and you probably stayed up late and got a plate just like I did but now we got to get back to it and we have to make some good strides and have lots of accomplishments and achievement and we're going to be getting ready for our I ready access that's really really soon so I want all of you to make sure that you showed grit and everything that you do this week and for the rest of your life and we have a very special holiday coming up its Doctor Martin Luther King day and we are going to celebrate that next Monday January 15th 2024 to honor doctor Martin Luther King jr. Let's find out a little bit information about him I know you already know all there is to know about him but let's just give ourselves a reminder the third Monday in January is observed at the birth Martin Luther King Jr and is an official US holiday dr. King's actual birthday is January 15th. A treatment of people based on the color of their skin or where they came from his voice became familiar to millions of people during the Civil Rights Movement a time when many people were working hard to change unfair lost these laws prevented many African Americans from using public areas going to certain School or even entering some stores and restaurants Doctor Martin Luther King Junior believe people should stand up for what is right and stop Injustice anyway they can but never through the use of violence as recognition for his ideas and dedication he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1960 for the Civil Rights Movement led to changes in our country's laws in 1994 the US government encouraged Americans to use the King holiday at the national day of volunteer action now on the Martin Luther King jr. day of service volunteers across the country donate their time to make any difference how would you like to volunteer your time on the birthday of dr. Martin Luther King jr. for life and think about how you can volunteer your time have a way that you do and that's by attending our parade we're having a Martin Luther King parade Saturday January 13th and amestoy wants to represent we want all of our students staff and parents to join us for the parade on January 13th 2024 and we're going to start at Serra High School which in Gardena it's on the corner of 148th and Marine and Van Ness so please if you're interested in going please see Miss Fontenot Andrew home 7 or more info patient if you're interested in going to our Doctor Martin Luther King parade and we're going to need someone to carry our banners so see me if you're interested in going to the parade and we can't wait to see you there to honor doctor Luther King Jr on January 13th 2024 with the city of Gardena up next I know there's some exciting things coming and we're going to the craft store which you used to be the Staples Center and make sure you complete your passport application prior to going I think our next one is on the 21st and let's look and see and we're going to also this might go see the m.j. musical he was the King of Pop so yes on Sunday the 21st there is going to be a field trip to the crap do is going to be a Clippers game and they're going to host and Korean Heritage night so make sure if you get your trip slip that you turn in right away our visit with the Clippers don't in there on the 24th we're going to the Clippers game is going to be youth night for us and we're going to play the 76ers on March 24th again here more trips that we're going to take to our cultural art passport plan so we want to make sure that everyone's traveling abroad and remember everyone's going to get to go on at least one or two trips so we did The Nutcracker that's already done and on Sunday February 18th there's Lion King I can't wait to go see Lion King and I want all of you I'm bored with me so whenever get your trips the boys and girls we want you to bring them back the very next day because we have purchased tickets for this and it was very costly but you're worth every penny but if you don't go we want to make sure that we use the ticket for someone who is going to go so when you get your trip slip please turn it back in right away we have the Aladdin coming up on the 16th we also have I prefer the kids coming up in and remember each trip that you check your going to stamp your passport book and we going to keep those passport books for years to come just to see where you have traveled we talked about emjay Musical on Saturday the 27th and then we're going to do Carnival of the animals on Saturday March 16th so get ready to travel Eagles and now announcements welcome back everyone to our second semester thank you for coming back and being on time and I want to let everyone know that on the 10th we're going to have some special visitors at our school we're going to come to see the great work that we're doing here we're going to visit classrooms I don't have to remind are eagles that you're always on your best behavior and you're always working hard and you're always showing grits go on the 10th week to the show it to the principles who come to visit our school and then on the 11th we're going to start our after-school cultural or African drumming and dance practice and it's going to be for 7 weeks I'm sure you can really learn some good dances and drumming during that time and then on the 12th we're going to have our student of the month perfect attendance assembly we've already talked about our parade and we know that are dead Eagles are going to attend with a lot more of our staff and students and parents we want to have a big number a big turn out there and then after that Saturday that Monday you get a break there's no school going to honor Doctor Martin Luther King and we going to continue to do some volunteering as they recommended the following week on the 18th we're going to do our Spelling Bee for 4th and 5th grade we're going to see who's going to go represent at the district and we really want to go to the National Spelling Bee but in order to do that we have to have a winner so I hope everyone is studying their words are be stopped meeting is also on the 18th at 5 p.m. we talked about the Korean Heritage celebration at the Clippers game on the 22nd through the 26th we're going to do I ready Ela and on the 29th through the 2nd we're going to do I ready math boys and girls you cannot do anything on i-Ready until the 22nd because we don't want you to start your assessment so there is no lie ready for the next couple of weeks until we begin our assessment then on the 27th when we know we're going to MJ the musical here's our calendar please take a brief lit a brief look at it we've covered everything on here the one thing I do want to remind you about is bad college gear where is every Thursday so wear your collared shirt and every Friday we're going to do spirit wear so if you don't have an atmosphere t-shirts we do have them on sale please come to the main office or to the parent Center to purchase a T-shirt and we'd like all of our Eagles to wear their t-shirts when they travel or go on a field trip all right good morning ever fun happy New Year at least on your neighbor todos as you know we have our website it's being updated on a weekly basis to provide you with all the information that you need anything that is currently on campus or any future events are posted there we also have a parent portal sure code so that if you have not yet have opened your parent portal now is the the day to do it please make sure that you do open a parent portal if you haven't done so yet you have so much information that you can access and so we encourage you to please make sure to come over in the morning so that we can help you with today if your parent portal I think we've already talked about this and we haven't we're going to have coming soon we're going to be stepping in the right direction and it's an after-school program for a black student achievement breakfast in the cafeteria we encourage all of our students to eat a healthy breakfast every morning our students need to feel the energy so that they can think critically so that they can participate actively in and engage in all that learning that takes place every day so parents please make sure that your children are healthy breakfast we have breakfast here at school from 7:30 to 8:10 good morning Alice do Eagles have Monday walking back I'm so excited that everyone came to school today I hope you have a hundred percent attendance everyone should have a hundred percent just a reminder it is a new year 2020 I want to encourage all of you to start the year with excellent attendance expectation is that everyone has a hundred percent only reason you should be not coming to school as if you're sick please come to school come to school on rainy days come to school on very cold days come to school every single day we are four weeks away from the 100th day of school which is on February 5th so that's what that means that means we're halfway to the end of the school year that the whole school year has 180 2 days so with the 100th day of school coming time you were halfway so there no reason why no student should be absent if you want to know where you are on the band the weather girl that's the lunch basic or chronic please come see myself Glen so please wait girls come to school everyday it's so so very important for one day that you miss school you fall behind Jess how many days 3 days so with that said it is so so very important to come to school every next please all right so here is a reminder that we are still doing our classroom attendance challenges so remember for every day that your classroom 100% attendance which means every single student showed up to class you get one point when your clocks reaches 15 points then you get to choose as a classroom with your teacher what you would get at the reward one disc has happened Latin when or myself know so that we can also give a shout out during the assembly's so again please come to school every single day we all went to see you here and Miss Gonzalez we had at hours for the month of December remember Austin to have perfect attendance for the number they get popcorn and a movie party dinosaur that list so that we can see how many students are going to attend or popcorn and movie party and we need to schedule that as soon as I do it. I said boys and girls wear if you want to also be part of the future events and will have going on such as like this month movie and popcorn the only way to be part of that is if you come to school everyday so come to school everyday and we'll be pulling up that list so that we can find out who will be part of the movie and popcorn for this month and will need to come up with a challenge for January boys and girls Zyliss Miss Quinn or myself know what would you like to have for the month of January for having perfect attendance and then we'll work on scheduling that for everyone who has perfect attendance in the month of January boys and girls make sure you come school every day so you can be a part of our challenge so I know we've been out of school for the last 3 weeks but I still wanted to share with everyone and give a shout out those classrooms. Our last week prior to going on break had the most amount of students present case will shout out again to miss casadas class I put a happy face because again she had perfect attendance the week before medley's class for Strait I Got A 92% miss Patty has plastic in great 97% missed response against 97% MS closest place for great 96% and discussed his great 98% a lot of the fifth grade classrooms did have really good at tennis Will shout out to overall 5th grade all right so which university will you attend a university diversity. So we're focusing this week on the University of Silicon Valley and just a few tips for you to think about as you prepare for your future College selection make sure you do research online or you can ask an alumni who is an alumni well boys and girls your teacher is an alumni your principal is an alumni team is going to start what is an alumni all of us that work here on campus we are alumni that means that we have attended a university or college and guess what boys and girls some teachers are currently attending college to get a master's degree and so you can ask your teacher which college they attended why did they choose that college and what was their major and they have a lot of information to share with you boys and girls all right so the University of Silicon Valley is located in San Jose California it approximately has 420 students so it is a very small campus and it cost about $43,000 a year but after financial aid it's about 24,000 but as you know and we talked about it every week that we have are our focus on College you can get a scholarship so that you can attend free so boys and girls just focus and plan and then you'll be able to access all these amazing scholarships that the that you know that our state and our nation has to offer for you USB is a private university located in Silicon Valley it was founded in 1887 first it was known as the Constable technical school and now in 2021 it was changed to University of Silicon Valley is known for digital media all the way to engineering you can earn your Bachelors of Arts Bachelors of Science masters of arts degree and if you're interested in animation that's one of the universities you can attend also audio and music production video game design and development computer science and even business entrepreneurship and since then enrollment for undergraduate is very small it's important to 1 student to teacher ratio the boys and girls if you're interested in designing one of those games that you currently played this is one option that you have you know someone use on campus we have to remind you that our cell phones are to be put away in your backpack while you're on campus and in the event of an emergency we have all your student information and we will contest Guardians are a master staff is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones escape the responsible be respectful at all times boys and girls I know we were off for 3 weeks but I know, you will remember our rules for the restroom you use the restroom you make sure that you flush the toilet you wash your hands and you quietly exit and you go back to either your playground area or your classroom depending on where you or at that time there's no playing in the restroom there's no talking in the restroom all you have to do is use it and make sure that you come out quickly we do have are some stuff outside of the restroom and if there's any questions, circus Arts make sure you are dressed up to that now it's time for our drawing for being safe and responsible and being respectful remember the more eager flip that you received the better opportunity you have of winning so when your name is called please come to the office during your recess time to retrieve your prize and this week would be buying extra nice more prizes we're running low so Crystal room 42 congratulations Emma room 16 congratulations Jose Room 11 congratulations germina room 38 congratulations Raymond room 29 congratulations Kayla room 29 graduation Christian I room 23 congratulations daylan room 39 congratulation you winna room 16 graduation congratulations boys and girls on being say being responsible and being respectful and we know that you're going to continue that pattern through the rest of the year it's important that we're safe responsible and respectful now again I want to wish all of you a happy New Year and I want you to remember every accomplishment start with a decision to try so I want all of you to try new things to try to come Swisher goes but I want you to always remember that excellent is doing things better than you did before the day before so we don't expect for any of you to be perfect we just want you to try and we want you to improve each day to become the best version of you so happy New Year see you on campus by now
